Tesco plans to open its 11th store in Liverpool city centre. Consultants, on behalf of the supermarket, have submitted plans to the city council for a new express branch in Dale Street. The store will be located in the former Spar unit on the ground floor of the former Pioneer buildings – near the corner of Vernon Street – which are being converted into a hotel.
In December 2009 plans for a 80,000 sq ft free-standing Tesco superstore at Great Homer Street, Liverpool were rejected.
